This map provides general locations of major fires burning in California. The fire locations are approximates. Some of the fires on the map are not in the jurisdiction of CAL FIRE and are under the command of another local or federal fire agency.
Current Fire Information This is the complete list of 2018 major incidents that have been posted to this site. You can see the location of Major Incidents on the Google Statewide Fire Map.
The map shows fire-emitted fine-particulate matter (PM2.5 - particulates that are less than 2.5 microns in diameter) concentrations. PM2.5 is a primary concern for people's health at high levels. Fire perimeters are based on infrared and thermal imaging from NASA's MODIS and VIIRS-I products.
